What is Stitch Collab?
Stitch Collab is a collaborative embroidery art project established in 2017.
Who is behind Stitch Collab?
I’m Emily Popek, a communications specialist, seller of vintage, and embroidery enthusiast. I live in upstate New York with my husband, our daughter, two derpy dogs and one angry cat.
I started teaching myself embroidery in 2016 and became smitten with the craft. I started out just playing around with my own designs, but I began to wish I could create something more artful. After seeing a friend’s sketch on Facebook, I asked her if she would like to collaborate on a project where I embroidered over her drawing. She was as enthusiastic about the idea as I was, and her response prompted me to reach out to other artists I knew to see if they would like to join me for this project.
I am working with a variety of artists and designers on this project. You can read more about them on the Contributors page.
Each finished piece will be sold by auction, with proceeds to benefit a charity agreed upon by the designer and myself.
Why an auction?
The auction format will help us raise the maximum amount of money possible for the organizations we want to support.
How will winners be chosen?
The bidder who pledges to donate the largest amount to the stated charity will win the item being auctioned. Winners will be asked to provide proof of their donation within 7 business days of the end of the auction to claim their prize. If proof is not provided within 7 business days, the second-highest bidder will be contacted.
What if there is a tie?
If two people pledge the same amount, and that amount is the highest amount pledged, each bidder will be contacted and given the opportunity to increase their bid. The process will continue until a single high bidder has been determined.
